The National Public Policy Evaluation Center (NPPEC) is a globally significant education and research center housed at the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS). NPPEC uses a multi-disciplinary approach to examine how current and potential agriculture and natural resources public policy impacts the United States, with the goal of helping the public and policymakers make more-informed decisions.
There is a science to understanding how public policy develops, how effective public policy is, and how to improve public policy affecting agriculture and natural resources. Housed at one of the nation’s most academically diverse universities, NPPEC combines research and education to drive its mission. The process begins by understanding public policy and public opinion from a variety of angles through multidisciplinary research. From these results, NPPEC engages with the public and policymakers through education, training, and communication efforts to improve the development and implementation of public policy in agriculture and natural resources.
